bbuoy

Bell buoy rocks in the crest and trough of the sea, a sound of warning and hope rising and falling in clear waves through the bright salted air. With muffled peal shifting slightly in the fog, it tests our faith that it will hold its position and that we will continue to hear it as a point in space. Like a sea-born heart, tethered by a trailing cable, its one lone artery anchored to the sea floor, the bell buoy beats minutes or seconds as we measure our progress through storms. The ringing count lengthens in clam seas becoming an accompaniment to the sun and moving clouds.
